Jane’s Walk 2020

Jane’s Walk Re-Imagined!

Jane’s Walk ATL returns this May , but this annual international festival of free, citizen and community-led walking conversations inspired by urban activist Jane Jacobs has been re-imagined for 2020! The COVID-19 outbreak and unfolding response have dramatically reshaped our original vision for Jane’s Walk ATL programming.

In partnership with Emory University’s Center for Digital Scholarship FPC is creating a virtual tour experience, via Emory’s Open Tour Builder. This platform is an open source app offering a unique opportunity for Atlantans to create their own city tours aimed at connecting with their fellow neighbors and exploring the unique stories that define our amazing city. These digital tours will be available to the public starting in early May – and FPC will add new virtual tours throughout 2020.

We invite you to  submit a tour idea for this re-imagined experience. Tours can be walking, biking, skateboarding, wagons, wheelchairs, or unicycles…you name it. They can include historical sites, natural environments, restaurants, public art, or other local landmarks that help frame the story of our beloved Atlanta communities through citizen-led vision.

All tours should be created with personal and public safety in mind, geared toward individuals or small groups of less than 10 people, and take into account evolving social distancing guidelines related to COVID-19. Click here to submit your tour idea and FPC will contact you with next steps.
